Norway Day 12 ~ Heading North.....Again!

We wanted to get a lot of kilometers under our belt today as we have 1,600 of them to get to Bodo, so we set the alarm for 6am and were on road by 7am. Our only plans today were to drive……and drive…..and drive. We stopped along the way to have brunch – it was a lot of food – bread, eggs, bacon, a pile of potatoes, and sausage! Guess that little bit of green salad is supposed to offset all the calories/artery-blocking of the rest of the meal!

For the record, Brad ate all of his, some of Suzanne’s (she had the eggs, toast, a few potatoes, and one slice of bacon), and there were still leftovers! After eating ALL that, Brad said, “Ya know, I’m not very full.” (Must be nice to have such a high metabolism!)

It was a beautiful day weather-wise and we enjoyed the views along the way. We stopped for only gas, fresh water, and to dump the toilet canister.

We passed by Storelgen (The Big Silver Moose) – the world’s second tallest sculpture of an elk/moose (until a taller one was created in 2019 – bummer).

We ended up driving 13 hours and  836 km - and still seven hours from Bodo! (Norway is a loooong country!) We plan to take a ferry to the Lofoten Islands (from Bodo) and made a reservation for a 7am ferry on Friday.

We spent the night along the road at a turn-out. Sometime in the middle of the night, a trucker pulled in behind us, but we never heard them until we saw the semi in the morning.

Today's route....
