Today is our last full day in Slovenia. We really enjoyed our week here and were fortunate to have great weather the entire time - it was even cool enough at night to sleep with the windows and doors open. The Slovenian people we met were all very friendly and it is a beautiful country.
We drove to Ljubljana, the capital,, and enjoyed some time meandering the nearby streets. It is a quaint city, for sure.
With the Ljubljana River running through the center.
When we got here, there were TONS of teenagers milling about - outside our hotel and all over the streets.
We asked. Today is the first day of high school and it is tradition that it is a short day, the students embark on the streets of Ljubljana, and the upper class members haze the newbies by spray-painting them......
All in good fun, we suppose.......😃
As we walked around (hearing the telltale rattle of spray-paint cans) we came up upon some open-air markets........
.....and a vending machine for buying non-pasteurized milk. You can bring your own bottle or use one of theirs....
This is the only true hotel reservation of our trip - for one night only - Hotel Slon. It is actually a Best Western Premier Hotel, however it does not have the same vibe as the Best Westerns in the US - not at all.
Our corner room....
View from our side window......
We even had some complimentary treats waiting for us! 😋
We look forward to moving onto our next destination tomorrow, but will definitely miss Slovenia.
