Traveling from Cortina D'Ampezzo to Val Gardena ~ Italy Day 5

Today we left our last Airbnb of the trip in Cortina D'Ampezzo to a Bed & Breakfast in Val Gardena ~ only about a 1 1/2 hours drive.  As with pretty much every area we have driven in The Dolomites, the views are ever-present and ever-impressive.

We arrived to Hotel Edda early, but we were able to check-in early and the owner even upgraded our room with her compliments! 😀

It has its own sauna! 😎
(Considering it's cold, it's not a bad idea!)

We walked to town, had lunch, and talked about what to do the next couple of days.  Unfortunately, the rains are back - it rained all afternoon and is expected to rain tomorrow as well. The following day looks like the best day to hike, so let's hope so.  Later this week, they are expecting snow, so getting cold quickly here.

The hotel offers a prix fixe five course menu for 45€ per person (wine and water extra), so we decided to have that for dinner for a couple reasons (1) it's raining out and (2) the menu looked great!

We started with the buffet salad bar and bread....

Then it was air-dried beef ham on arugula and parmesan flakes with balsamic vinaigrette.... it was really excellent. (Suzanne isn't a big meat eater, so Brad ate most of hers, but even she thinks it was great - very mild.)

Then cheese dumplings on steamed white cabbage......amazing!

The fourth course was a chicken breast with a mushroom sauce and fried potatoes......also very good!

Finally dessert - panna cotta with strawberries - yum!

Ya think we were full?! 😀 It really was all quite excellent. We may need to buy bigger clothes tomorrow as we walk in the rain! 😂
