We decided to take a different type of hike for our last hike in Slovenia, so again up at 6am and off to Korita Mostnice in the Lake Bohinj area of the Julian Alps. As with seemingly all drives in Slovenia, there were scenic views all along the way.....
We started at 9am along (yet another) gravel road.....
...which led us to some beautiful pasture and some adorable houses....
There were some goats...
The gravel road finally gave way to a bit more of a trail....
Over a bridge.....
Through the trees....
...and horses.....
Done by 10:40am! 😀
We had some pie and coffee at a local restaurant, then made our way to Lake Bohinj......
Throughout Slovenia there were tons of churches and monuments/shrines to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph (and maybe some saints). In fact, we would pass shrines (multiple shrines) on our hikes - and not just along the gravel roads. The churches were all magnificent and different from one another. This is the Church of St. John the Baptist in Lake Bohinj, built in the 11th century and with the first musical bell tower in the world.
