Dubrovnik ~ Croatia Day1

The day began on the patio of our Airbnb - enjoying tea/coffee, breakfast, and the view......Old Town and the Adriatic Sea.

We woke early (6am) so we could get to Old Town before the masses from the cruise ships - cruisers arrive to Dubrovnik around 10am. We also read that the walls get very hot mid-day, so we wanted to walk those first. Good thing - it was a HOT day!

So we walked the 10-15 minute walk to Old Town and made our way to one of the entrances for the walls and purchased our tickets (35€ each). The walls were very interesting - not simply the walls themselves, but the many amazing views from above......

Here we are! 😀

After about an hour walking on the walls, we made our way into Old Town, first enjoying breakfast then walking around, meandering the labyrinth of "streets" and alleys, often climbing a series of stairs.

Who climbs that ladder?

There were many clotheslines hanging around. Brad kept saying how cool they were. Let's be clear about one thing - it's Suzanne that does the laundry, so Brad can romanticize clothes lines as much as he wants - it's not happening. 😉

Here's the future clothes dryer of our laundry:

A few more cool pis....

The harbor......

A cat..... (there were lots of snoozing felines)........

We eventually left the Old Town and walked the streets outside the area - eventually sharing a three-scoop ice cream dish (caramel, tiramisu, and some vanilla/chocolate swirl). As we said,  it was HOT, so we decided to head back to our Airbnb and get some provisions (food) at the nearby grocery store for an alfresco dinner on our patio.  We got a bit lost, which normally isn't a big deal, but going astray around these parts means stairs, and in all seriousness, we probably climbed (an unnecessary) 200-300 steps - in the heat!. Oh well.

Provisions were procured, we headed back to our Airbnb (more stairs!), showered, relaxed, and eventually enjoyed our dinner with some Croatian wine while still enjoying the view.
