A beautiful day weather-wise and we took advantage of it. Our first stop was the Signal Hill National Historic Site where Guglielmo Marconi received the world’s first transatlantic wireless signal in 1901 – the message originating in Cornwall, England, approximately 1,700 miles away.
The views of St. John's and the surrounding waters were quite extensive.
It was also fairly crowded - good thing Brad was on hand to help the RCMP!
We then went to the Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site situated on the most easterly point in all of North America.

We drove around a bit, found a place for a late lunch, and then toured (for about five minutes) the Newman Wine Vaults. Meh.
Day 1 in St. John's complete! 😀
