Prince Edward Island ~ Day 2!

We woke to a beautiful day weather-wise, so planned to go to Prince Edward Island National Park. However our car (whose name is Sunshine, by the way) had other ideas - her battery died overnight. πŸ˜’

In no particular order, we started:
  • Calling our credit card company that has Roadside Assistance for a battery jump/boost.
  • Texting the owner of our Airbnb (who lives next door and came by to chat last night) if he knew of a place to get a jump/boost/tow/new battery. (He was super helpful.)
  • Calling Canadian Tire to see if they had our battery in stock.(They did!)
  • Calling towing companies to see if someone could jump/boost us since the roadside assistance person gave us no time frame.

Coincidentally, one of the towing places we called - actually the only one who answered their phone - was the same place that our credit card company uses for Roadside Assistance, and they gave us an ETA of half-an-hour. Not too bad, so we waited.....

(Yup - those are our backpacking chairs!)

The guy showed up pretty quickly and jumped/boosted our battery....

Then we were off to Canadian Tire.....

(That's Cheryl - she was super nice.)

Where they apparently sell lots of batteries......

Tanner came to get Sunshine quite quickly, and the new battery install began......

It was maybe three hours from start ("Have everything? Let's get to PEI National Park early to get parking") to finish ("That'll be $230CA. How would you like to pay?").

We celebrated our new battery by trying our first lobster roll on PEI at Water Prince Corner Shop and Lobster Pound.

It was good, although the potato salad was made with hard boiled eggs - yuck! It was also a bit overpriced and too much bun. So to update our lobster roll eating:

Lobster Rolls in order of Best to Meh:

1. Doyle Sansome & Son, Twillingate, NL

2. Chelsea's Fish & Chips, Lewisporte, NL

3.  Water Prince Corner Shop, Charlottetown, PEI

4. The Freight Shed Waterside Bistro, Baddeck, NS

We finally made it to PEI National Park at about 2:30pm, first going to the Cavendish area..

Then to the Brackley-Dalvay area, which looked like Florida beaches in December - tons of people!

The water was surprisingly warm-ish - apparently this is the warmest water north of the Carolina's due to the gulf stream.

So it was definitely a full day - a new tire, lobster rolls, and a beach walk. 😁

You’re a riot, very entertaining. glad sunshine ☀️ πŸš™is back up and running. We all need a little maintenance as we get older especially after extensive road tripping.
