Newfoundland, Canada ~ Day 11!

So today’s breakfast was scrambled eggs, ham, toast, fresh fruit, and after all that – porridge! For sure these three days have been the best (and most fattening) breakfasts of this trip – and will probably prove to stay that way as we are making our own breakfasts going forward – did someone say peanut butter on toast? 😊

It was a quick 2 ½ hour trip to St John’s and we are in an Airbnb that is large and nicely located near the main downtown area.

Once we were settled, we walked around the downtown area

and to an area called jellybean row.

Then the rains came, so we just chilled in the Airbnb for a while. Speaking of which - we have stayed in Airbnb's a few times in our travels, but never so many back-to-back. We (well, Suzanne) think it would be a good idea for owners to actually stay in their Airbnb for a night - experience what it is like. For example, while this one is large, the lighting is terrible, there is stuff everywhere - a bit like the owners didn't want to throw away or donate anything, so they stuck it all in here - and mirrors in odd places, such as next to the toilet, but no towel bars.....😡

Eventually the rain cleared a bit and we wandered some more, and at 7pm, we (along with many others) watched the 975ft long, 115 ft wide Nieuw Statendam turn itself around (180 degrees) in the 200ft wide St John's Bay. It was a bit more than a 3-point turn! πŸ˜‚  Then she motored off for her next destination (Halifax, she came in from Greenland.)

We are here for two full days and the weather is supposed to cooperate for those days, so we will have a chance to enjoy the area a bit more.
