We took a drive one afternoon to Baxter State Park to find out about hiking Mt. Katahdin (by the way, it’s pronounced ka-taa-dn). Baxter State Park is very remote and we were disappointed to find that any hike requires one to be there by 7am to secure a pre-reserved parking spot – if you’re not there by that time, then it’s first-come, first-served and the lines start at 6am. Well, friends, that wasn’t happening! If we were staying in the park, yeah, sure we could park by 7am, but not with a 45-minute drive ahead of us. But we did drive there on a nice, clear day and enjoyed a lovely view of Mt. Katahdin.
The following day we were joined
by our friends Rick & Jana and went on a long drive moose searching. We’ve
seen moose in our travels, but wanted to see a Maine moose. Well, we had a
great drive and had some wonderful local blueberry ice cream, but the moose
evaded us. We did enjoy some cool
sights, such as……..
