We “high-tailed” it south for a while out of Keystone, South Dakota,
with our first stop boondocking at Cabela’s in Sidney, Nebraska. Although they actually have a full hook-up RV
park as part of its complex, we decide to save a few bucks and just park in
their parking lot (all Cabela’s let you do this). It was a decent place ~ nice
grassy areas to walk Zoey, a duck pond, etc…
Of course, it ended up not being free, as Suzanne purchased new work-out
shoes. :-)
Our second stop was farther down the road then we expected. We
originally planned to stay in Lamar, Colorado, but decided to continue driving and boondocked
at Walmart in Dumas, Texas,
about 415 miles from our previous night’s stay.
For those of you who may not realize it, many Walmarts around the
country allow RV’ers and truckers to stay free in their parking lots – the idea
is that you’ll also stop at their store. It’s not always the quietest place to
stay, but in a strange way, safer than many places, since it’s always busy.
Easy and affordable - no matter where you are!
