We once again slept great and woke to clear and sunny skies! We enjoyed coffee/tea on our deck overlooking the water while watching the occasional lobster boat head out for the day's catch. We eventually got ready for a day of exploring and hiking, first enjoying breakfast at the only place open for breakfast in town - Downeaster Cafe.
We then went back to the national park with Brad's new Senior National Park Pass proudly displayed on our rear view mirror....
.....first stopping at Frazier Point...
...and then Schoodic Point....
Our planned hike for the day started at Blueberry Hill where we did the (approx) 2.5 mile, 450 feet elevation change hike created by connecting Anvil Trail, Schoodic Trail, and Alder Trail.
It started in the trees....
...had some great views.....
...continued along flat spaces then back into some trees.....
...was quite "rooty" underfoot......
.....lots more views.....
.....there were a few short boardwalks.....
....a gravel road that we walked down for a bit....
...into a flat forest for the final bit of the hike.....
All-in-all it took 1 1/2 hours and was it was a great time hiking with some elevation changes and amazing views.
We then drove around the area a bit, enjoying some more views......
...and saw some lobster boats working not too far from shore......
We ended up back in Winter Harbor where we walked the small town, went back to the room to shower, and enjoyed dinner at a local pub. It was a great day - sunny, 70's, and no humidity!! 😊
(Here is the link to when we were here last year - to compare the visits.)
