........but there was construction on one of our transfers, so we decided to get off early and found ourselves walking towards the Arc de Triophe, which is basically on an island in the middle of the busiest and largest rotary we've ever seen! (There were underground walkways to get there safely.)
Here is the view from the Arc de Tromphe........
And where else but Paris is Suzanne's named spelled correctly? And on a bus at that!
We continued to walk and could see the Eiffel Tower in the distance........
Eventually, as this was Paris, we decided to sit and have a sweet - Suzanne clearly has not gotten the hang of ordering coffee in French, because while she got the tea she wanted, Brad ended up with a teeny-tiny espresso!
We walked along the Champs-Elysees, which honestly was quite disappointing as the stores were mediocre and were just "everyday" stores - The Gap, Benetton, Five Guys Burgers! However.....as we walked up towards the Four Seasons, suddenly there were a bunch of men, yes, only men, taking pictures of something......what was it? Multiple Bugatti's. Each one will run ya about $4 million. (Nope, not a typo.)
We stopped and had a late lunch at a place called L'Aperobro, a tiny restaurant on some random street. The food was great and the server very nice - however both he and the chef spoke very little English (and you know our level of French), and we thought it odd when the chef left for a minute and came back in with two baguettes, which were then later served to us. A little but later a woman walked in and then left without any lunch. We think that they may have been closed (or closing) and just didn't tell us - it was just easier to serve us. Oops! (Clearly it didn't bother them too much as they invited us back later for a wine event. No, we didn't go.)
We continued to work our way to the Eiffel Tower and finally came upon it - lots of guys selling tchotchkes (cheap trinkets). Okay, so here it is............
And that was that. Eiffel tower - check!
We then decide to work our way to The Louvre........
Walking over the Pont des Arts, where "love locks" and attached (and ultimately removed by Paris officials) and the key thrown into the Seine.
We enjoyed the Jardin des Tuileries by the Lourve and the exterior of the museum - it really is an impressively large building.Nope, we didn't go into the Lourve - no desire.
Some pics..........
We had a bit of a hassle getting back to our place as some Metro lines were not working, but we eventually got there. We purchased (very familiar) provisions for dinner - cheese, coppa, wine, and bread - and enjoyed those back at our Airbnb!
(Some girls collect shoes; Suzanne collects baguettes!)
