Logistics ~ what does that mean? Well, ya gotta keep some things dry, thus dry
bags.
You have to do dishes after meals…..
You have to sleep somewhere…….and sometime close to one’s
neighbors. (Luckily, no snorers in this group!)
But the biggest question we all had while on the trip, and
the one we get the most from friends when telling about the trip, is, “Where
did y’all pee and poop?” Peeing – easy – in the river. Usually one does their business
away from a water source when hiking or backpacking, but not in the Grand
Canyon. Guys would go to one area, women to the other. Eventually, since we
were all just wearing bathing suits all day, one would go waist-deep in the water,
take care of business, and be done with it.
Pooping is another thing.
In camp, the guides would set-up two “toilets” - a metal box with a toilet
seat – one inside a tent-like structure and one just out yonder. The latter was
more in demand, as it often had nice views.
There were a couple hand-washing stations placed around camp
as well – one for the bathrooms and the other by the food.
And there ya have it!
