Voodoo Doughnuts, Portland, Oregon

After living in Portland for more than 15 years, we finally went to the famous Voodoo Doughnuts on New Year’s Eve (albeit at 11 in the morning).

Voodoo Doughnuts is famous of many reasons (they were featured in an Amazing Race episode), but most importantly, for their interesting variety of doughnuts. To name a few~

  • Captain my Captain –vanilla frosting and Captain Crunch cereal
  • The Loop – vanilla frosting and, you guessed it, Fruit Loops
  • Mango Tango – mango jelly on the inside, vanilla frosting and tang on top
  • Dirty doughnut – vanilla frosting and Oreo’s
  • Old Dirty Bastard – chocolate frosting, Oreo’s and peanut butter
  • No Name – chocolate frosting, rice krispies, and peanut butter
  • And their very famous: Bacon Maple Bar – yup, a maple bar with bacon on top!

So we split a dozen with a couple friends, grabbed some coffee at a local Starbuck’s, and chowed down! We tried them all, were surprised at the one’s we unexpectedly liked, and equally surprised at those we expected to like but did not.

When in Portland, this is a definite place to visit ~ however, be sure you plan to be there a while – we spent about an hour waiting in line – much longer than any ride in Disneyland!

Happy New Year!!!!!

Good to hear from you again! Wow, sounds like a fun place. We hope to be in Portland this summer, depending on too many factors to mention. We'll have to look them up! That's a dangling participle, I realize, but it's awkward to say "have to look up them," and besides that sounds gorss.
