Day 1 in Zermatt (September 2nd)

We slept until 8am - wow! Took our time getting ready for breakfast - and yup, it was the usual. By this point, Suzanne started spreading brie on crusty white bread like she used to spread cream cheese on a bagel!  After doing more laundry, we wandered around Zermatt - walking from one end of town to the other - and down every side street we could find. Unfortunately it was completely overcast, so we couldn't see the Matterhorn.

We sat on the sidewalk and shared a coffee and cream filled croissant - damn good! We meandered around some more, eventually having lunch at a restaurant called Walliserkanne, which had the worse service of the trip so far and refused to serve tap water, so we we had to buy a bottle of water - that's just bullshit. We chatted with a couple from Lake Tahoe that were sitting at the table near us and ran into the Israelis again! They had just finished their hike and were grabbing a bite to eat before catching a train to the airport to fly home.  We periodically dropped by the hotel to do more laundry (good thing the hotel was centrally located!) and eventually had quick dinner at a nearby pub. Eventually we called it a day - after another quick load of laundry if course!

Zermatt........

These are the electric buses/carts hotels and services use..........

Another water bisse........

This is the cemetery behind the church where climbers who have died while climbing the Matterhorn are buried.
