Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Medora, North Dakota

We took a drive around the park today and did a few short hikes – we saw quite a lot of wildlife along the way as well! Our first wildlife – yeah, the ever-elusive (not) prairie dog!

Our first stop was Wind Canyon Trail where we were able to look over the Little Missouri River onto the badland of Theodore Roosevelt National Park –

we even saw a herd of bison in the far distance.

We then saw a dirt road and decided to take it and see where it led us, well, there were three antelope in the distance – pretty cool!

We continued along the park road to Coal View Trail and ran into (not literally) another herd of bison – some pics of the family……..

We took a short hike on Coal Vein Trail and even saw a couple of the wild horses in the distance….

On our way back to the main road, the herd was on the move……..

The ‘ole girl clearly did not like sharing the road!

We then took a short hike along Ridgeline Trail, with great views, some cool grasses and another view of more wild horses.
