Pictured Rocks National Seashore, Munising, Michigan

The main reason we decided to come to Munising was to visit Pictured Rocks National Seashore. We at first thought about hiking the 9-mile loop, but although probably a great hike, it puts one atop the rocks, without much view. So instead we took a guided boat tour with Pictured Rocks cruises at $36/per person.

As we cruised to the pictured rocks, we learned some interesting things about Lake Superior, such as:

  • Lake Superior is the largest of the great lakes and could contain all of the other great lakes, plus three more the size of Lake Erie.
  • The maximum depth of Lake Superior is 1,332 feet, averaging 483 feet.

  • The shoreline length is 1,836 miles, the drive from Duluth, MN to Miami, FL.

The ride was 2 hours 40 minutes with a friendly crew & captain, clean bathrooms and smooth sailing.  We took tons of cool pics, so enjoy!  :-)

This was a sand bar (nicknamed Sand Bar Island).......

A water fall that usually is only running in the spring, but it's been a wet few weeks recently....

Just some random pictures.............
