Franklin’s Barbecue, Austin, Texas

We met JC & Bev in South Dakota this past summer - mutual friends, Howard & Linda from www.rv-dreams.com were in town, and while they were visiting JC, he mentioned that he had a blind that needed restringing. Howard told them about us, we restrung their blind, and as it goes, we four ended up in Austin at the same time. (In fact, we’ll be seeing them a few times as both couples are heading in the same direction over the next few weeks.)

So we met for lunch, and when it Texas, do like the Texan’s do, and eat barbecue! Brad did a little online research and found that Franklin’s was the place to eat barbecue around here (they were not in business when we lived here). We planned to meet at 12:30, but we were early, which was good, because at 12:00, there was already a 50 minute wait (we were told the wait could be as long as 3 hours). Their open/closed sign read ~ Open: 11:00am, Close: When we run out of food. They closed at 1:30, and we were there on what was considered a slow day! We’ll admit, we didn’t love the sides (cole slaw, potato salad and/or beans), but the barbecue itself – YUM YUM YUM! This was a great place – very friendly people working, and a place we’d definitely recommend if in Austin and you have the time to wait.  :-)
Easy and affordable - no matter where you are!
